What the recruiter wants to read

Your medical degree, its recognition by MEBEKO if it is foreign, and your specialist title (or the one in progress).
Your clinical experience: wards, procedures, on-call duty, and what makes you independent.
Your postgraduate training plan (SIWF/ISFM) and your language level (B2 at least).

Subject: Application for a resident position in internal medicine

Dear Professor Gilliéron,

I am applying for a resident position in general internal medicine from 1 January. Your department, accredited as a category A training centre, fits the path I am building towards the specialist title in general internal medicine.

After graduating from the University of Lausanne in 2023, I completed my first postgraduate year in internal medicine at Valais Hospital. I managed acute patients from admission to discharge, covered night shifts and took part in a project to reduce early readmissions.

The range of conditions your department treats and your structured teaching programme would give me the independence I am aiming for in the coming years.

I would be glad to meet you for an interview and thank you for considering my application.
